Abstract The stratigraphic correlation methods, which include marker bed correlation, cycle correlation and hierarchical control, are adopted to carry out fine division and correlation of the reservoir of Suweiyi Formation in Dina gasfield. Two primary marker beds at the top of and underlying the Suweiyi Formation and four internal secondary marker beds are key to divide gas layer group and sand group, while the sedimentary characteristics of three third-order cycles, five fourth-order cycles and 19 fifth-order cycles are the basis to divide sand group and sublayer. The Suweiyi Formation of Paleogene can be divided into 5 sand groups and 19 sublayers based on the characteristics of marker beds and sedimentary cycles above.
